The 2016 Summer season has officially kicked off in the city of San Jose with a rockin’ music concert presented by Metro!
As the heart of Silicon Valley, San Jose, California is the hub of today’s technology. Born and raised in this city I know this to be true, however I also know that there’s more to San Jose than just tech. There’s good music, good food and good fun, especially in the Summertime.
Launching summer in true fashion, Downtown San Jose held its annual Music in the Park Summer Concert Series featuring Grammy Award Winning Rock Band Los Lobos and guitar virtuoso Maxx Cabello, Jr.
Los Lobos brought locals and guest to the iconic Plaza de César Chávez for a night of rocking out to famous tunes and endulging in savory cuisines and libations from top restaurants and food trucks including Chacho’s Mexican Restaurant, Pizza My Heart, Falafel Fresh, Poor House Bistro (New Orleans), The Original Grill (Asian Fusion), MoGo BBQ Truck and Kartma Coffee Cart.
Recently inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame, the Chicano rock band took center stage and performed crowd favorite hits like Carlos Sanata’s “Oye Como Va,” Vicente Fernández’s “Volver, Volver,” and their very own famous cover song “La Bamba” featured in the 1987 film. Other originals played included “The Neighborhood,” “Kilo and The Lavender Moon” and “Will The Wolf Survive?”
During the concert locals took part in on going activities, games and crafts. Whether it was challenging a friend to a game of ping pong or bean bag toss, or creating colorful imagery with chalk art, there was something for everyone in the park. Luckily, Summer has only begun so more concerts are to come all season long.
Upcoming Music in the Park Big City, Big Show headliners include AC/DCshe July 14th, and Ozomatli August 4th, 2016.
