Being an active individual living in San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles County I rely on good food to keep me going. So when I tried catering foods from Lyfe Kitchen I knew I had found winning food. Catering bites included Lyfe Kitchen Quina Crunch Bowl and Chunky Guac N’ Chips. My first reaction – “Wow. This is delicious.”

After a little at-home researching on Lyfe Kitchen online, I realized they offer in restaurant dining and event hosting. On the menu, everything clocks in under 600 calories. Finding this out I had to take a visit to a location near me.

Lyfe Kitchen was centered in a great shopping and dinning area in Tarzana, CA. Entering the venue, the decor was as if I walked into somebody’s home. Someone who appreciates a modern look, with comfortable seating. They even had WIFI where individuals connected their phones and laptops to work while they ate.

Lyfe Water – L – Orange Ginger Chia, R – Cucumber Mint

My beverages consisted of two Lyfe Water Flavors.  Cucumber Mint contained fresh cucumber juice, mint, lime and agave. A drink that is very much needed to awaken the senses for a pick-me-upper. It would also be fantastic after a spa treatment or yoga class. The Orange Ginger Chia was a spruce of citrus I’ve never known before. A mixture of fresh-squeezed orange juice, filtered water, lime, ginger, mint and chia seeds, this drink made all other citrus flavored water nonexistent.

Spicy Vietnamese Lettuce Wraps

Next, the appetizers. Or as Lyfe Kitchen likes to call them – Sharables & Flatbreads. Tasting Spicy Vietnamese Lettuce Wraps, I savored every single bite. It was a dynamic dish with crunchy romaine wraps filled with stir-fried Garedein beefless tips, scallions, thai basil and lime. I am a die-hard lover of all things spicy, so this completely brought on a new flavor for me to indulge in. Also, Gardien beefless tips were a magnificent alternative to meat.

L – Margherita, R – Roasted Mushroom & Goat Cheese

Crunchy yet tender and light, both flatbreads have a beautiful blend of cheese, sauce, dressing and toppings. Curated with fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, basil and pomodoro sauce, the Margherita is the perfect complimentary dish for a glass of wine and a night in with friends or a date. As for the Roasted Mushroom & Goat Cheese, I imagine taking it to the Hollywood Bowl, a famous concert venue that encourages guests to bring food and drinks (alcoholic or non)  to enjoy during the show. With roasted criminis, carmelized onions, goat cheese, balsamic and chives, this flatbread contains a sweet overtone that will go along with any symphony or show I’m planning to see this summer.

Farmers Market Salad

Before digging into my main dish, I tried the Farmer’s Market Salad. It was a colorful fusion of arugula, blackberries, pickled onions, spiced pecans, goat cheese dressed in balsamic vinaigrette.  When I took a bite of pickled onions, a delightful-subtle onion flavor with a crunch, I was in heaven. I will be ordering this as my new side dish for BBQs, house gatherings, picnics and outing trips.

Art's Unfried Chicken

Art’s Unfried Chicken

Even though I don’t know Art personally, I would like to take the time to thank him for one scrumptious plate – Art’s Unfried Chicken. I’m not sure how exactly this meal is prepared, but the texture comes out delicious and still under 600 calories. Additions to the plate included roasted brussle sprouts, butternut squash, dried cranberries, cashew cream sauce and Dijon vinaigrette. I added a side of Baked Sweet Potato Fries and house ketchup for a dose of soft and roasted sweetness.

Richly whipped chocolate adorned with pomegranate, chia seeds and toasted almonds, Chocolate Budino is the epitome of a treat.  And when I picked up the Chocolate Chip Cookie for the first time I was so excited because the cookie was warm and the chocolate was gooey. Just like a chocolate chip cookie should be. The first bite was happiness… pure happiness.

Luckily for everyone (and especially myself), Lyfe Kitchen is a 5 star fast food dinning and take out experience at amazing prices. And good news, I found out a little more information about Art. He is Chef Art Smith. He and Chef Jeremy Bringardner are the executive chefs of Lyfe Kitchen. Together, they’ve combined decades of award-winning expertise to create this perfect menu.
