Gilroy Garlic Festival organizers recently announced that Emmy-award-winning celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis will be appearing at the Festival on Sunday, July 30.

Giada De Laurentiis will emcee the Garlic Showdown, the Iron Chef-style competition in which professional chefs battle for a $3,000 prize (and ultimate bragging rights). De Laurentiis will then prepare one of her own favorite garlic-laced recipes on the Garlic Cook-Off Stage and hold a question-and-answer session with Festival visitors.

Giada De Laurentiis appears on Food Network’s Everyday Italian and Giada at Home and serves as a judge on Food Network Star. She is also an NBC Today Show correspondent, a successful restaurateur with her debut restaurant GIADA in Las Vegas, and the author of eight New York Times bestselling cookbooks. Her most recent cookbook is Happy Cooking, a collection of recipes and tips for leading a healthy and happy life. She has also penned a popular children’s book series, Recipe for Adventure.
