Universal Studios Hollywood ‘Day of Giving’ Helps 250 LAUSD Students In Need by Adriana Michelle:

Universal Studios Hollywood kicks off the season of giving with a day-long event gifting essentials for 250 Los Angeles Unified School children.

On Thursday November 12, Hollywood’s famous theme park played host to Operation School Bell welcoming over 20 LAUSD elementary and middle school students to Universal City Walk LA. Thrilled to know they were getting brand new essentials for education, children entered the venue in smiles and shouts of joy.

Divided into stations children met with Universal Studios employee volunteers, Minons from Despicable Me Minion Mayhem Ride and Larry Kurzweil, President of Universal Studios Hollywood, to pick up their items. Volunteers helped secure kids with backpacks, sweaters, clothing, undergarments, shoes and essential supplies for them to feel confident this school year.

Director of Employee Relations at Universal Studios Hollywood, Dorothea Scattaglia said, “We purposely choose November because we feel it’s an opportunity for us to take a pause and reflect on how fortunate we are to have a theme park that creates wonderful memories for people.”

Scattaglia added, “This is a day for over 200 of our employees go out and bring joy to the community. We are at six different locations around the city providing a variety of projects that let people know their friends at Universal Studios care.”

As lunch approached students were treated to a complimentary meal and a chance to explore Universal Studio Hollywood’s newest attractions. Students anxiously zipped through Universal’s 3D Ultra-HD adventure, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, Super Silly Fun Land play zone and the world-famous Studio Tour. The grand finale consisted of blockbuster thrill ride Fast & Furious – Supercharged.

Effectively connecting employees with the community, Universal Studios Hollywood’s yearly tradition also serves organizations from their philanthropic foundation, Discover A Star – an organization making a significant impact in local undeserved communities that empower individuals and families to lead more productive and fulfilling lives.
